ABOUT THE SCHOOL
Sri Sankara Senior
Secondary School was founded in 1970 under the auspices of the Oriental
Cultural Education Society, a subsidiary unit of the Vyasa Bharatha Kaladi
Sadas Samajam , a registered body founded by His Holiness Jagadguru
SriSankaracharya of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam. At the instance and with the blessings of his Holiness , some of the enlightened citizens of Chennai ,
interested in education and the promotion of national culture, formed a
registered society in 1971, bearing the name of The Indian Education
Society . Its main aim was to start a good educational institution for
imparting education to our children on national lines and in consonance
with the time spirit , synthesizing the feature of our ancient systems
with the progressive trends of modern times. Recognizing the laudable
objectives of the Indian Education Society and its fruitful functioning ,
His Holiness arranged the transfer of Sri Sankara School to the management
of the Indian Education Society. Sri Sankara School has grown into a
Senior Secondary School and its owns a spacious campus in Adyar. The
Indian Education Society has got converted into Indian Education Trust (Regd.)
and the Trust has taken over the management of the school and under their
able and excellent management , the school has established great
reputation.
Sri Sankara Senior Secondary School is a co-educational Institution and
has been affiliated to the
Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi. The school at Adyar
has classes from L.K.G. to XII Std. They are handled by highly qualified
staff and personalized individual attention to the students is the
hallmark of the institution. The school has been maintaining high standard
of excellence in the academic field and in every sphere of school
activity. The school has been producing cent percent result in the Board
Examinations consecutively for the past nineteen years.
The unique feature of Sri Sankara School is that it symbolizes the ideals
of education expressed in and through moral and spiritual values,
discipline and character, appreciation of our cultural heritage and
cultivation of genuine devotion to God, respect to Guru, parents and
elders. Sanskrit, the repository of our culture is given a special status
in this school. This is a pioneering institution in the propagation of
Sanskrit and special Shloka classes are arranged for the children.
